Tenor Jordan Weatherston Pitts has been recognized for his "heroic", "passionate" and "bewitching" performances both on the operatic stage, as well as in concert. He has been seen in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Classical Review, The Financial Times, Opera News, OperaWire, The Boston Globe, Early Music America Magazine, and The New York Times. He has made guest appearances on NPR, WQXR, New York 1, and ABC News as well as featured articles in The New Yorker Magazine and The London Times International.
Jordan made his principal artist debut to critical acclaim as the drag queen Renata in Iain Bell and Mark Campbell’s world premiere of Stonewall with New York City Opera and continues an active performance schedule of romantic and lyric repertoire. His most recent roles include the cover of Romeo in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette with the Hawaii Opera Theatre, a cover of The Magician (Nika Magadoff) in Menotti’s The Consul with Opera Saratoga, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Achille in La Belle Helene, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Alfredo in La Traviata, Younger Thompson (Cover) in Tom Cipullo's Glory Denied, Goro in Madama Buterfly, and MacDuff in Verdi's Macbeth.
In 2018 Jordan was both a Studio Artist with Opera Saratoga’s Young Artist Program as well as an Orvis Studio Artist with the Hawaii Opera Theatre.
Other roles include Oronte in Alcina, William Lyons in the world premier of Darryl Glenn Nettle's The Fall of Stag Lee, Spoletta in Tosca, The Narrator in Britten's Owen Wingrave with the Boston University Opera Institute, Vittellozzo in Lucrezia Borgia with LoftOpera, King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Gastone in La traviata, Davey Palmer in Jonathan Dove's critically acclaimed one-act opera, Siren Song, Joe in Richard Wargo's Ballymore, and a cover of Hoffmann in Offenbach’s Les Contes d'Hoffmann.
On the concert stage, Jordan has most recently performed with Hartford Symphony Orchestra, The New York Opera Collaborative, The Garden State Opera, The Boston Camerata, Heartbeat Opera, The Newburyport Choral Society, and the Western New York Chamber Orchestra. Notable works have been as a Soloist in the Messiah, Haydn's Great Organ Mass, The Lord Nelson Mass, and the Mozart Solemn Vespers.
Mr. Pitts holds a Master of Music from Boston University and a Bachelor of Music Performance from SUNY Fredonia.
